My story
I have always been “different.” I know firsthand that not “fitting in” can be difficult. But the more I mastered the core principles that often transcend cultures and borders, the more secure and grounded I became.
When I looked around, I noticed a common thread among cosmopolitans: they all have a strong core—a foundation that goes beyond English proficiency, communication skills, or extensive knowledge. It’s a collection of essential principles that help you go further, no matter where you’re from.
Aspiring CALD individuals need more than just English fluency or accent reduction. I offer the solutions I wish had been available to me.
(CALD: culturally and linguistically diverse)
I’m a medical researcher and published author with 30 years of intercultural work experience in high-pressure academic and corporate environments across Japan, the Netherlands, the U.S., and Australia.
I’ve met many high-achievers from non-English speaking backgrounds outshine their native-speaking counterparts. When I analyzed their success, key patterns emerged—spanning both technical skills (e.g., vocabulary, articulation, logic, public speaking, diplomacy) and personal attributes (e.g., self-affirmation, resilience, adaptability).
This formula for success isn’t something you’re born with—it can be learned and reinforced. And so can you!
Philosophy
In this increasingly borderless yet divided world, where even ‘facts’ are often disputed, it’s more crucial than ever to focus on ‘common denominators’—values that are widely accepted and have stood the test of time across cultures.
Focusing on ‘core‘ skills and values contributes more to individual success than emphasizing our cultural differences.
